Latest trends in violent crime
The police have also reported troubling trends in murders and armed robberies in the area.

The Reiger Park policing precinct reported experiencing a notable rise in murder cases on weekends.
According to the Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson, Constable Johannes Msimanga, the spike started in February this year.
Without sharing the exact figures, Msimanga said most of the reported deadly incidents occurred during the early hours, and the victims were mostly people returning home from local taverns.
While it appears that the robbers are after valuables items like cellphones and money from people walking down the streets during the night, they in the process stab or shoot the targeted victim.
With the current trends in violent crime, police management urges avid partygoers to walk in groups when they are coming from the taverns, especially when it’s still dark, and should be more vigilant all the time.
The police have also reported troubling trends in business robberies and house break-ins in the Ramaphosa area.
“Business robberies and house break-ins are getting out of hand. Our reports indicate that there is a group of armed criminals targeting businesses during the night. So, we would like to advise business owners to enhance their security measures,” said Msimanga.
Residents are advised to call the police when they notice suspicious activities. They must refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
Msimanga added that in an effort to curb these criminal activities and to bring the perpetrators to book, the police station has deployed extra resources to deal with these public threats.
“There are dedicated teams following up on leads to trace the suspects.”
