Police are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.
Police are investigating a case of murder after a 35-year-old man was shot and killed in front of his children on Rondebult Road, opposite Parkdene Boulevard, on January 17.
According to Ekurhuleni SAPS district spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the incident occurred at about 16:00.
The deceased had reportedly gone to McDonald’s to buy food for his two sons, aged six and seven, before driving out of the shopping centre.
Sekgobela said the man parked his silver Toyota RunX on the side of the road after one of the children asked to check whether they had tomato sauce.
While they were checking, a Toyota Corolla without registration plates reportedly parked parallel to their vehicle.

“A passenger alighted from the Corolla, approached the vehicle and fired several shots at the driver before fleeing the scene with other suspects,” said Sekgobela.
The children were physically unharmed. Several spent cartridges were found at the scene. The suspects are currently unknown.
It is alleged that the deceased was a taxi owner.

Shopping centre employees and onlookers stood in shock outside the centre’s gate after learning what had happened.
A worker at one of the stores at the centre said the incident had traumatised him.
“I was still working when I suddenly heard gunshots. I panicked and tried to get to safety. It was a horrible experience,” he said.
