‘Your information matters’: Police praise Reiger Park community
Residents are urged to continue working with police, particularly in the fight against gang violence in the township.
Police have praised community members for providing information that helped investigators trace and arrest a second suspect linked to the killings of two women and two SAPS Anti-Gang Unit officers in Reiger Park.
Information from members of the Reiger Park community has helped police track down and arrest a second suspect in connection with the August 7 killings that claimed four lives.
A 24-year-old man was arrested in Reiger Park on August 16, following a tracing operation by a multidisciplinary team comprising the Hawks, SAPS Anti-Gang Unit, flying squad and EMPD.
He is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court this week.

Acting National Commissioner of SAPS, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, specifically commended Reiger Park residents for assisting the police with information that helped investigators trace the suspect.
“This arrest is not only a victory for SAPS; it is also a demonstration of the power of a community that refuses to be silenced by criminals,” said Dimpane.
She urged residents to continue working with police, particularly in the fight against gang violence.
“When communities speak up, they give police the information we need to move investigations forward,” she said.
Two suspects now arrested
The latest arrest brings the number of suspects arrested in connection with the killings to two.
Regan Collis (23) appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on August 12 facing four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and two counts of possession of unlicensed firearms.

He was remanded in custody, with his formal bail application scheduled for August 25. The state has indicated that it will oppose bail.
The latest suspect is expected to appear before the same court this week.
Four lives lost
The arrests follow the deadly Reiger Park shooting on August 7, which claimed the lives of Jaydin Magerman, 27, Roleen Lessing, 31, and SAPS Anti-Gang Unit members Constables Thapelo Tlomatsane, 29, and Sphiwe Sibeko, 28.
Magerman and Lessing were shot while travelling in a vehicle, while the two officers were subsequently killed after responding to the shooting. Their two R5 rifles were also stolen.
Dimpane assured Reiger Park residents that police and their law-enforcement partners would continue working to bring those responsible to book.
“Your information matters, and your courage strengthens our investigations,” she said.
