East Rand United (ERU) captain Velile Tshabalala led his team to a 32–12 victory over the Vaal University of Technology (VUT), securing a place in the Valke President’s Cup Shield final.
The powerful eighth man scored two tries against VUT in the semi-final in Reiger Park on April 26.
ERU had a strong first half, crossing the try line twice and adding a penalty to the scoreboard. At halftime, the home side held a 15-7 lead.
Staying true to their motto, “Never quit”, the men from Reiger Park maintained their dominance in the second half, adding another 17 points while limiting the visitors to a single unconverted try.

Head coach Godfrey Mbangeni told the Boksburg Advertiser after the match that he was happy with the team’s performance.
“We started late with our pre-season. Other teams have played more matches than we have. Don’t focus on the scoreboard. Look at how they played and put their bodies on the line. What we’re asking for is exactly what they’re starting to deliver. We could’ve scored more tries, but I’m happy with the result. We look forward to the next match,” he said.
