Boksburg North SAPS football team clinches victory at Top 8 tournament

Boksburg North SAPS emerged as champions of the prestigious Top 8 football tournament held at the Edenpark Sports Ground recently, securing the trophy with a 2–1 victory over Tsakane SAPS in the final.

The thrilling final match saw Sergeant Thembani Nkuna and Constable Phopolo Kgamane each find the back of the net, sealing the win for Boksburg North. Their strong performance throughout the tournament earned them the Top 8 trophy and gold medals.

Boksburg North first eliminated Katlehong North SAPS to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-final clash against Duduza SAPS, the team triumphed to book their place in the final.

Individual accolades also highlighted Boksburg North’s dominance at the tournament. Constable Phopolo Kgamane walked away as the top goal scorer of the tournament, while Constable Nkosinathi Mkhonza earned double honours as best player and best midfielder. Constable Jafta Mashau was recognised as the best goalkeeper of the tournament for his standout performances between the posts.

The Top 8 tournament brought together SAPS teams from across the region, showcasing sportsmanship, skill, and camaraderie among officers. Boksburg North SAPS’ victory reflects not only their talent on the pitch but also their commitment to excellence in all aspects of service.

Boksburg North SAPS coach Andrew Mpati said he is thrilled with the team’s performance.
