Riley secures third consecutive SA Pony Rider title

She occupied the top two positions after finishing second with Sunny Park Scooby Doo.

Jaimie Riley cemented her place among South Africa’s top young showjumpers after claiming her third consecutive Toyota SA Pony Rider Showjumping Championship title at Shongweni Club on July 2.

Partnering her outstanding pony, Sunny Park Warhorse, Riley delivered a composed and flawless performance throughout the championship.

She completed the opening 1.10m round in 62.45 seconds before clocking 43.88 seconds in the second round. Riley then produced another faultless effort in the jump-off, stopping the timer at 44.05 seconds to successfully defend the title she won aboard the talented thoroughbred quarter horse last year.

To cap a memorable championship, Riley also finished runner-up on her second pony, Sunny Park Scooby Doo, underlining her exceptional consistency and the strong partnership she has built with both mounts.

Winning the prestigious national title for a third successive year, while occupying both the top two positions on the podium, marked another remarkable milestone in Riley’s already impressive showjumping career.

“An achievement like this with two ponies, first and second in the Pony Rider Championship, takes hours of practice and a real partnership between pony and rider.

What Jaimie has achieved here really is remarkable. This is Jaimie’s 3rd year in a row winning this prestigious title,” said Jaimie’s mom Nicola Sime-Riley.

Riley currently occupies both first and second with 30 points apiece on the showjumper of the year rankings with both Scooby Doo and Warhorse.
