EMPD to act against horse owners

Staff members of the Brakpan SPCA spotted at least six horses walking dangerously close to Denne Road, on Friday morning.

This was on the same the day the Herald published an article highlighting the problems that freely roaming horses in the town are causing. (Price of carelessness).

Two horses had already been killed when they were struck by cars on Denne Road and on the N17, near the Denne Road off-ramp.

Vicky Finnemore, chief inspector of the Brakpan SPCA, previously told the Herald that the situation is completely out of control.

She submitted photographs taken on Friday morning (July 12), of six horses grazing right next to the very busy Denne Road.

“It is becoming a very common sight and the owners of these horses should not be allowed to get away with it,” said Finnemore.

The EMPD told the Herald that action will be taken against careless owners of animals that are allowed to roam about in this fashion.
