Help the Red Cross

The festive season has arrived and, for many families in Brakpan, this signals a happy time and an exciting period of indulgence.

The festive season has arrived and, for many families in Brakpan, this signals a happy time and an exciting period of indulgence.

For many others, however, this means hunger.

The Brakpan Red Cross regularly supplies food to families in need, through its feeding scheme.

This year the last day of the feeding scheme will be on December 17, and it will resume on January 14, 2014.

During this time, many families will be without the organisation’s assistance.

The Red Cross hopes to hand out larger parcels on the last day, to see people through this time, and is appealing to the Brakpan community for help.

Any items of non-perishable goods, tinned foods, pasta, instant soups, sugar, tea, coffee and powdered milk will be gratefully received.

With Christmas in mind, donations of sweets, biscuits and cold drink will also be more than welcome.

Goods can be delivered to the Red Cross, which is situated at 7 Derby Avenue (corner Gordon Street).

For more information contact the Red Cross on 011 740 0074 or 011 740 8883.
