Shot man in crash en route to hospital

A 24-year-old man who was shot during an alleged fight at a drinking establishment in town, was later involved in a car accident en route to the hospital.

According to information received from Brakpan police, the man and his girlfriend (age unknown) were at the bar along Hastings Avenue on Friday night, last week, when a fight erupted just before midnight.

It is believed that when the man intervened and tried to stop the fight, he was shot in the buttock.

It is further reported that the man’s girlfriend rushed him to the hospital herself, but, in a state of panic, allegedly lost control of the vehicle they were travelling in, and crashed.

Paramedics attended the scene and the man was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital.

It is not known if he sustained any further injuries or if his girlfriend was injured in the accident.

No arrests have been made and a case of attempted murder has been opened.
