Residents alerted the Herald to the supposed meeting, where council, police and other stakeholders were due to gather.
Upon arrival at the settlement, however, the Herald discovered that the “Cleaner and Greener” roadshow is taking place.
Various Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality departments, including Waste Management and Health and Social Development, are involved.
The campaign aims to educate the settlement’s residents about the dangers of living in an unhygienic environment.
Other topics on the agenda include rodent control and family planning.
DA ward councillor for the area, Veronica Dyson, confirmed that this is the only event scheduled to take place at the settlement today and that no meeting has been arranged.
Local police also confirmed this.
