Ekurhuleni honours women in waste management services

In an effort to support and recognise the role of women in the male-dominated field of waste management services, Ekurhuleni will host their third annual Women in Waste awards ceremony.

On Saturday, September 5, female personnel at Ekurhuleni’s Waste Management Services will converge at the Springs Civic Centre for the prestigious awards ceremony under the theme Zithande, or love yourself, aimed at instilling self-love in women, irrespective of their challenges.

Ekurhuleni’s eagerness to appreciate women in this line of work is derived from the challenges faced by many women on a daily basis including a lack of confidence, self-respect, self-esteem, a lack of inner stability, drug abuse, self-sabotage and the continuous plight of violence against women.

The awards ceremony is set to acknowledge the best performing women in waste management services and reward their contribution towards keeping Ekurhuleni clean.
