Won’t pay more for metro’s mistakes
William Douglas writes by e-mail: When the metro council started with their idea of picking up refuse only in refuse bins, I knew they would, at some stage, incur problems of overtime, as the use of the lorries with the bin system takes much longer than the old fashioned grab a bag and throw it in the back of the lorry.

Now the chickens have come home to roost, as the municipal workers are demanding overtime for the refuse removal.
Our rates have already gone up and if they think I am going to pay more because they want to make allowances for overtime, they will sorely be misjudging themselves.
I suggest that, if refuse is not picked up timeously, the town’s citizens dump it in front of the waste management’s offices.
