Thus the Ekurhuleni LGBTI pride march, to be held on Saturday in Germiston, will be a platform of expression for the Ekurhuleni LGBTI community.
The Ekurhuleni LGBTI pride march will see close to 1 500 people proudly march down the streets of Germiston holding flags, banners and placards with informative messages about homosexuality.
The march, which is aimed at sparking debate and changing the mindset of homophobic individuals will also focus on complex health and social issues.
“Following the incidents of correctional rape, discrimination and killing of LGBTI people done by uninformed and homophobic individuals, the march will be an eye-opener that will indicate that the LGBTI community consists of mothers, fathers, daughters and sons of Ekurhuleni,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson, Themba Gadebe.
The march will start at 9am at the Golden Walk Mall, go past the taxi rank and the Ekurhuleni offices before ending at Germiston Lake.
