The city’s Risk Management Department was recently a recipient of two awards from two prominent independent bodies that are at the centre of promoting governance, risk and compliance management in South Africa.
The Chartered Institute of Government Finance, Audit and Risk Officers (CIGFARO/IMFO) awarded the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality a Clean Administration Award for subscribing to clean audit processes for the 2015/16 financial year.
In addition, the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) awarded the metro an Industry Initiative Award: Government and Public Services for outstanding contribution towards risk management.
At the same event, Musa Khumalo, a chief risk officer, was a runner-up for the IRMSA Risk Manager of the Year award.
