The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (July 26 to 27):

Cases reported:

• Speeding: 2
• Robbery with other weapon: 2

• Common assault: 2

• Reckless driving: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Theft of motor vehicle: 3 (one of which is a Benoni case)
• Attempted hijacking: 1
• Residential burglary: 1
• Common robbery: 1
• Bribery: 1

Arrests:

• Speeding: 1
• Drunk driving: 1
• Assault GBH: 1
• Theft: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Warrant of arrest: 1
• Bribery: 1

Attempted hijacking:

•  A Minnebron resident opened fire on a group of would-be robbers yesterday (Wednesday), forcing them to beat a hasty retreat.

Armed robbery:

• A male taxi passenger was robbed of his cellphone, cash, and tekkies, on Tuesday.

The incident took place at the corner of Rangview Road and Airport Drive, in Dalpark, at about 7am.

Shortly after boarding the taxi, a white Toyota Quantum, the victim was threatened by one of the other passengers, who was armed with a knife.

The man held the knife to the victim’s neck and demanded his belongings.

The victim was forced out of the taxi near the Dalpark N17 tollgate.

• Three pedestrians were robbed of their cellphones by two men, on Monday.

The victims were confronted by the pair and threatened with a knife as they were walking along 12th Road, in Vulcania, at around 7.30am.

Robbery:

• A man was assaulted and robbed of his possessions at the corner of Voortrekker Road and Goods Road, at around 8.30pm, last night.

The victim was attacked by a man known to him and robbed of his bag of clothes.

Burglary:

• Waterberry Street, in Dalpark.

The home was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: A TV.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A white Toyota Conquest was stolen from Kingsway Avenue, on Friday.

• A white Hyundai H100 was stolen from Kingsway Avenue, on Tuesday.

Attempted theft of motor vehicle:

• An attempt was made to steal a white Toyota Hilux bakkie at an address along Heidelberg Road, in Leachville, on Tuesday.

The door lock was damaged and the ignition had been tampered with.
