Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Two cars were stolen.

A white Nissan 1400 bakkie was stolen from Devon Street, in Dalview, and a red Nissan Sentra was stolen from Escombe Avenue.

• Saturday – A residence in Pythian Street, Brakpan North, was broken into.

Gardening equipment and gas bottles were stolen.

* An Anzac woman was shot and killed in her Edward Street home during a house robbery.

• Sunday – The driver of a grey Hyundai Tucson was hijacked at an address along Seekoei Street, in Leachville.

The victim, who was dropping off a friend at home, was threatened at gunpoint by two men as he was parking his car at around 9.50pm.

The hijackers forced the victim into the backseat and drove off with him.

While travelling along Airport Drive, near Mall@Carnival, the victim jumped from the vehicle.

Other cases:

• Thursday – A laptop was stolen from a car parked along Heidelberg Road (R23), in Dalpark.

* Computers were stolen during a break-in at a business in Prince George Avenue, Anzac.

* A white Mitsubishi Colt bakkie was stolen from an address along New Kleinfontein Road, in Leachville.

• Wednesday – Tyres and rims were stolen from a business in Graaf Road, Witpoortjie.

Weekend arrests

The following arrests were made in Brakpan over the weekend:

• Theft/resisting arrests and attempted murder: 1
• Speeding: 1
• Rape: 1
• Possession of housebreaking implements: 3
• Shoplifting: 4
• Malicious damage to property and contempt of court: 1
• Possession of drugs: 4
• Drunk driving: 3
• Selling liquor without a licence: 1
