Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A car radio and battery were stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along 20th Road in Denneoord.

* Four men robbed a house in Rand Collieries.

The robbers gained access to the Witpoort Road property at around 9.45pm and threatened the home’s occupants with guns.

They fled with cash, cellphones, jewellery and laptops.

* A man was robbed of a woodworking machine at the corner of Goods Road and Voortrekker Road at about 3pm.

The victim was carrying the machine (type not specified) when another man bumped into him, knocking him off his feet.

The man then grabbed the machine from the victim and ran off.

* A home along Msasa Avenue in Leachville was burgled of a TV.

• Saturday – Two vehicles were stolen from Carnival City.

A Toyota Corolla was stolen between 4pm and 7.30pm, and a white Nissan bakkie was stolen between 3pm and 11.45pm.

* Two burglaries took place.

A home along Abercorn Avenue in Anzac was burgled of a TV, surround sound system, laptop and other valuables, and a laptop was stolen from an address along Hastings Avenue.

* A young man was robbed of his cellphone at Carnival City.

The victim was making a call at around 1am when another male grabbed the phone from him and a struggle between the pair ensued.

Two of the thief’s accomplices came to his aid and the victim was threatened with a knife.

• Sunday – Two break-ins took place.

TVs, a laptop, DVD player and shoes were stolen from a home along Crassila Avenue in Minnebron and a TV, jewellery and other household items were stolen from an address in Dodds Street, Dalview.

Other cases reported:

• Thursday – A silver Toyota Hilux bakkie was stolen from Carnival City.

Weekend arrests

The following arrests were made in Brakpan over the weekend:

• Drunk driving: 1
• Speeding: 6
• Possession of drugs/dagga: 6
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Tampering/damaging infrastructure: 1
