The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (June 19 to 20):

Cases reported:

• Theft: 6
• Residential burglary: 2
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 1
• Suicide: 1
• Common assault: 2
• Business robbery: 2
• Shoplifting: 2
• Malicious damage to property: 3
• Possession of stolen property: 1
• Reckless driving: 1

Arrests:

• Possession of drugs: 1
• Possession of stolen property: 1
• Shoplifting: 1
• Assault GBH: 1

Business robbery:

• Four men robbed a Dalpark petrol station on Monday night.

The robbers entered the shop on the premises at about 7pm and pretended to be customers.

After making a small purchase, two of the men threatened the cashier with guns.

Shots were fired, but no one was injured.

Cash and cigarettes were taken.

• Numerous vehicle batteries were stolen during a robbery at a business in Springs Road, Vulcania, during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

A patrolling security guard was confronted by three armed men just after midnight.

He was tied up and robbed of his belongings.

The robbers fled with batteries they removed from several vehicles parked on the property.

Burglary:

• Joubert Street, Brenthurst.

The break-in took place on Monday.

Stolen: Two off-road motorbikes and a bicycle.

• Porter Avenue.

The burglary took place on Monday.

Stolen: Cellphones, tablets, a DVD player, laptop and other household items.
