The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (October 9 to 10):

Cases reported:

• Residential burglary: 2

Arrests:

• Theft: 1
• Speeding: 7

Hijacking:

• The driver of a white Toyota bakkie was robbed of his vehicle in Denneoord yesterday morning (Tuesday) by men posing as police officers.

The incident took place at the corner of Springs and Denne roads when two hijackers travelling in a white Volkswagen Polo with blue lights instructed the victim to pull over at about 10am.

They told the victim there was something wrong with the bakkie’s brake lights.

One of the hijackers then pointed a gun at the victim and forced him into the Polo, while the other hijacker drove off in the bakkie.

The victim was dropped off in Johannesburg.

• The driver of a white Volkswagen Passat was hijacked along Hamilton Avenue last night.

Three hijackers confronted the female driver as she stopped at an address along the street at around 7.30pm.

She was threatened with a gun and robbed of her wedding ring and handbag, which contained cellphones, cash and other valuables.

The car was recovered in Daveyton, Benoni.

Business robbery:

• A gang of men robbed a Voortrekker Road business yesterday morning.

The group entered the shop at around 8am and threatened staff members at gunpoint.

They fled with several cellphones.

Burglary:

• Eeufees Street, Dalview.

The home was burgled on Monday.

Stolen: A TV.

• Hoy Avenue.

The break-in took place yesterday.

Stolen: A TV.

• 12th Road, Maryvlei (business).

The burglary occurred on Saturday.

Stolen: Gardening equipment.
