Hells Angels Joburg celebrates Remembrance Day

This year marked the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.

Hells Angels Joburg held a mass ride from Germiston to the Apex Military Base in Dalview on Sunday in honour of Remembrance Day.

Dominic Schorr (left), Ryno Bosch, Lourens de Klerk, Shaun Venter, Charl Lourens and Michelle Carstens (front) were among those who participated in the mass ride.

The day is observed on November 11 to recall the end of World War One and commemorates the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war.

This year marked the 100th anniversary of the end of this war with major hostilities formally ending in the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.

A family fun-filled day was hosted where there was plenty of good food and music, as well as flea market stalls and military vehicles on display.

Every year members of the public, military and various organisations come together to commemorate Remembrance Day. Martin and Lorraine Blake paid tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in war.

The event also included a wreath-laying ceremony.
