Brakpan SAPS emerge as first runner-up at national awards

So close to a win.

The Brakpan Police Station narrowly missed out on the top award at the SAPS National Excellence Awards 2019.

The local station was one of six vying for the prestigious title of Station of the Year.

Other stations in the running were Hartbeespoortdam (North West), Springbok (Northern Cape), Margate (Kwazulu-Natal), Thabong (Free State) and Komatipoort (Mpumalanga).

Brakpan was named first runner-up, while Margate SAPS took top honours.

The award ceremony was held last night (Friday) in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, and Brakpan SAPS station commander Brig Fredl Jonck was in attendance.

The Brakpan Police Station was named first runner-up in the Station of the Year category at the SAPS National Excellence Awards 2019. Brig Fredl Jonck is the station commander.

Jonck was appointed station commander in 2017.

Since his tenure at the helm, local police have bagged impressive awards such as Station of the Year at the Gauteng SAPS Annual Excellence Awards 2018 and Station of the Year at the Ekurhuleni Central Cluster 2018 Prestige Awards.
