The City of Ekurhuleni’s community swimming pools are ready to welcome patrons for the beginning of the swimming season, which kicked off on September 1.
The spring/summer season brings with it the need to dip into a crystal clear pool to cool off.
As such, the city’s pools have been rehabilitated and renovated while others are being built from scratch to prepare for the swimming season.
In April, Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina officially handed over a swimming pool to the community of Eden Park.
Meanwhile, the Duduza swimming pool is still under construction.

The city has resolved to keep designated community pools open during the festive season.
No leave days will be approved for any pool staff during this period.
All pools will, however, be closed on December 25 and 26, and January 1.
Ekurhuleni has three types of pool categories with different facilities.
Category A boasts an indoor heated swimming pool and is an arena for competitive swimming while category B pools are mainly outdoor pools with grand stands.
Category C pools are standard with basic amenities.
The entrance fee to community pools according to their categories are as follows:
• Category A – R 15 per person
• Category B – R 10 per person
• Category C – R 5 per person
