Weekend crime round-up
Two friends were robbed at knifepoint while walking along Kingsway Avenue.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:
• Friday – A man was arrested after a break-in at a residence along Germains Avenue.
While nothing was stolen, a car on the property and a padlock were damaged.
* A TV was stolen from a home in Springs Road, Rand Collieries.
• Saturday – Cash, a TV, a laptop, speakers and other household items were stolen during a burglary at a home along Luther Circle in Brakpan North.
A blue Ford Bantam bakkie parked on the premises was also taken.
* A residence in Gert Bezuidenhout Avenue in Minnebron was burgled of a cellphone and a wallet.

* A driver from a private taxi company was hijacked by two men.
The driver picked up two passengers at an address in KwaThema at around 6.50am.
While driving along 13th Road in Vulcania, the men asked him to stop.
The driver was then threatened with a firearm and pushed out of the car.
When he put up a fight, he was struck over the head with a gun.
The men drove off in his white Toyota Corolla 1.6.
• Sunday – A vehicle parked at an address along Middle Road in Rand Collieries was stripped of its wheels.
* A gold-coloured Nissan X-Trail was stolen from Reid Street in Withok Estates.
* Two friends were robbed at knifepoint while walking along Kingsway Avenue.
The incident took place at around 3pm.
Three men armed with knives confronted the pair and searched them.
The robbers ran off with two cellphones and a packet of cigarettes.
A suspect was arrested the following day.
