Weekend crime round-up

A smash-and-grab was reported at the corner of Voortrekker and Station roads.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday – A blue Fiat Uno was stolen from a workshop along Prince George Avenue. A generator, a car polishing machine and various tools were also taken.

* A bag containing personal documents and other items was stolen during a burglary at a home along Strange Avenue.

* Two cars parked along Beechwood Street in Dalpark were broken into in separate incidents. A laptop was stolen from each car.

* A woman was robbed of her handbag by a lone thief as she was walking along Graaf Street in Minnebron. The incident took place at around 13:00. The bag contained two cellphones, a power bank and the victim’s ID book.

* A smash-and-grab was reported at the corner of Voortrekker and Station roads. A female motorist was stationary at the traffic lights at around 17:30 when a man smashed the passenger side window. He grabbed the victim’s handbag, which contained her purse, and two cellphones.

* A white Nissan NP200 bakkie was stolen from Dirk van der Hoff Street in Rand Collieries.

Saturday – A man was robbed at gunpoint along Second Road in Witpoort Estates at 05:10. The victim was walking to work when he was attacked by two gunmen who threatened him and demanded his cellphone.

He was ordered to lie on the ground and was struck over the head with a firearm. The robbers took his bag which contained his cellphone, a tablet, bank cards and other belongings.

* A red Toyota Etios was stolen from an address along Kingsway Avenue.

* A case of armed robbery is under investigation after a man was robbed at the corner of Kingsway Avenue and Kerry Street by two men at 19:00. The victim was returning from a shop when he was approached by the men, one of whom pointed a gun at him.

He was forced to lie on the ground and the pair demanded money and his cellphone. The robbers took the man’s backpack which contained his laptop and cellphone. The pair then made their getaway in a black Fiat.

Sunday – A laptop was stolen during a break-in at a home along Mitchell Crescent in Brenthurst.
