Help put an end to illegal dumping

Ward councillor urges residents to refrain from illegal dumping and to report issues to the municipality.

Illegal dumping is degrading the community of Leachville.

This is according to Simangele Sabe, the DA councillor for Ward 31 in Brakpan.

“Illegal dumping contravenes several environmental by-laws and creates an unsanitary environment in our communities,” she said.

“Waste removal levels have improved across communities under the multi-party coalition, however, resources have been stretched thin following the poor state of the waste department under the previous ANC-led administration.

“In this regard, the DA calls on residents to use the Brakpan mini-dumpsite and Van Dyk Park mini-dumpsite to dispose of their waste.”

In addition, residents are encouraged to do their part and report incidents of illegal dumping to 0860 543 000.

Illegal dumping is not only detrimental to residents but also poses a major health and safety issue due to the vermin and mosquitos it attracts.

“It is thereby imperative that residents join forces with the multi-party coalition to put an end to illegal dumping for the betterment of our communities,” added Sabe.
