UPDATE: Work continues to restore power

Some areas in Brakpan have now been without electricity for more than a day.

Households and businesses in some areas are still without electricity following a fire at the Van Eck Park Substation yesterday (February 7).

The outage, which took place just before 06:00, affected a large portion of Brakpan.

While the electricity supply was restored to most areas of the town by yesterday afternoon, further repair work is currently being conducted to restore power to those still affected.

These are Minnebron, Sunair Park, Sonneveld, Kenleaf, Withok (R23 side), Dalpark Ext 1, Rand Collieries and surrounding areas.

A restoration time could not be provided.
