SAPS show appreciation to crime-fighting partners

They were awarded certificates to acknowledge their assistance in apprehending murder suspects.

The Brakpan SAPS acting station commander, Colonel Eugene Scheepers, supported by Vispol commander Colonel Robert Makopo, extended gratitude towards crime prevention members and private security companies, by issuing certificates of appreciation on November 22.

The law enforcers and crime-fighting partners were commended for their swift reaction, which led to the arrest of a murder suspect within hours of the case being registered. The body was discovered in an open field in Brakpan North, wrapped in a white duvet with multiple stab wounds.

Witness statements identified the suspects, and they were both arrested, and the suspected murder weapon was found.
Scheepers cited that law enforcers were quick to respond and follow up on leads. “The collaboration yielded positive results and justice will be served,” he said.

He further encouraged teamwork and professionalism, and to not forget to respect and have each other’s backs when performing duties.

Teams that received appreciation certificates were the Brakpan Crime Prevention Unit, Sergeants Tuka Gavade, Simon Shabangu and Thapelo Chiloane, Benoni Flying Squad, DPCI TOMS, Secure Tech Security, Graphite Security and Blue Hawk Tactical.
