Leachville man killed in hail of bullets

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

A 43-year-old man was shot and killed in Leachville on Monday evening.

Brakpan police were notified of the shooting just after 18:30 and proceeded to an address along Numbi Avenue.

According to SAPS information, the responding officer was met by a man who introduced himself as the property’s landlord.

He informed the officer that one of his tenants had been shot.

The landlord then escorted the officer to the tenant’s unit, where two 9mm cartridges were found nearby.

A window to the room was open and the glass riddled with holes.

When the officer tried to open the door, he found it locked but was able to open it through the window.

The officer then entered the unit and found the shirtless victim lying on his back.

He had been shot multiple times, and showed no signs of life.

At least 10 more 9mm cartridges were found inside.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, and a murder docket was opened.
