Weekend crime round-up
An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from February 14 to 16.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:
Friday – An orange Toyota Etios was stolen from Mall@Carnival.
Saturday – Two cases of attempted murder are under investigation after a 47-year-old Anzac man and his son (19) were shot during an attempted hijacking. Both men sustained abdominal injuries.
A family member was alerted to the incident at around 23:00, and police were notified around half an hour later with officers proceeding to the scene at the corner of Prince George Avenue and Voortrekker Road
It is reported that a woman and a 12-year-old boy were also in the vehicle, a silver-coloured Jeep. The injured father and son were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The events leading up to the shooting were not disclosed.
Sunday – A man and his wife were robbed at gunpoint while walking home along Elliot Street at about 00:30.
A purple Volkswagen Golf with three occupants pulled up alongside them. One of the passengers then exited the vehicle and pointed a gun at the couple, demanding their belongings.
The gunman took their cellphones and R420 in cash. The victims were then told to lie on the ground and not move until the robbers had driven off.
