WATCH: San Michele hosts second ever Mr and Miss Mental Wellness pageant
Contestants from four different facilities competed for the crown.
San Michele, a home for intellectually and physically disabled adults, held its second annual Mr and Ms Mental Wellness pageant on July 19 in their hall.
Four experienced judges from the pageant and modeling world selected winners in categories including Mr and Miss Mental Wellness, first and second princes and princesses, as well as several special awards.
Every contestant received a sash, as the pageant’s main goal was not competition, but to make each participant feel beautiful, worthy, and important.
This year’s participants came from Logwood Village in Krugersdorp, Epilepsy SA in Springs, Sunfield Home in Willington, and San Michele.
The event included casual, sports, and evening wear segments, with the models confidently strutting the catwalk. Some of the evening wear was generously sponsored by Stefni Binneman of Starz’s Fashion Boutique.
The first prince was Ntokozo Nhlapho from Epilepsy SA, and the first princess was Patricia Molefe from San Michele.
The second prince was Pieter Abrahams from Sunfield Home, while the second princess was Rene Venter, also from Sunfield.
The king and queen of the day were Vusi Nhlapho from Epilepsy SA and Killie Mthembu from Sunfield, respectively.
