The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially released the payment schedule for September, covering all major social grants, including the old age, disability, child support, and social relief of distress (SRD) grants.

According to the announcement, beneficiaries can expect their grants to be paid on the following dates:

* Old age grant: September 2
* Disability grant: September 3
* All other grants (including child support, foster care, and SRD grants): September 4

SASSA has urged all beneficiaries to plan their visits to payment points carefully and avoid flocking to collection sites on the first day of disbursement. This is aimed at preventing long queues and reducing overcrowding, which often leads to delays and frustration.

Vigilance advised over unauthorised deductions
In addition to confirming the payment schedule, SASSA addressed the ongoing concern of unauthorised deductions from social grants. The agency emphasised that no deductions should be made from grants without the beneficiary’s clear and informed consent.

Beneficiaries who notice suspicious deductions from their grant payments are strongly encouraged to take immediate action.

There are two primary ways to report such issues:

* In-person reporting
* Visit your nearest SASSA office to lodge a complaint and seek assistance.

SMS dispute process
Send your ID number along with the name of the financial services provider involved to 34548. This service allows beneficiaries to challenge deductions they believe are incorrect or unauthorised.

SASSA continues to call on all grant recipients to stay informed, protect their personal information, and report any irregularities as soon as they occur.
