Brothers traumatised after robbery on Bedford Street
The robber made off with a cellphone while threatening one of the boys with a knife.
What should have been an ordinary walk home from school on the afternoon of August 20 turned terrifying for two brothers, who were threatened by a man with a knife.
Information received from Brakpan police reveals the boys, aged 12 and 15, were in tears when they arrived home and told their mother about their encounter with the knife-wielding robber.
It is reported that the brothers were walking along Bedford Street at around 15:00 when the man surprised them from behind and grabbed the older sibling by the shoulder.
When the teenager turned to face his attacker, the man pulled out a knife and pointed it at the youngster’s stomach. He then demanded the boy’s cellphone, which he handed over.
The robber inspected the phone before telling the brothers to keep walking. The stolen cellphone is valued at R3 000. An armed robbery docket has been opened.
