Food drive brings relief to vulnerable residents in Brakpan CBD

Community members received nourishing meals during an outreach initiative led by the Bold and Brave Foundation.

The Bold and Brave Foundation, a local women-led non-profit organisation, hosted a community food drive on May 24 along Station Road in the Brakpan CBD, where dozens of vulnerable community members were provided with warm meals and support.

The foundation initially aimed to feed 50 people during the outreach programme but exceeded its target by serving 68 plates of food to members of the community. Beneficiaries were provided with a warm and nourishing meal.

The outreach was led by the foundation’s leadership team, including founder and chairperson Tumelo Buthelezi, secretary Sardone Sampson, public relations officer Anelisa Phungulwa, and trustee Mbali Vilakazi.

They were joined by Brakpan SAPS social crime prevention and communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi, as well as members of the local CPF, AfriForum and members of the Brakpan Youth Crime Prevention Desk, whose presence highlighted the importance of collaboration between community organisations and law enforcement in creating safer and more compassionate communities.

As the foundation continues its outreach efforts, it is calling on community members, local businesses and stakeholders to assist by donating blankets, clothing and food supplies to help sustain and expand its community programmes.
