Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from July 7 to 9.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A motorist was robbed by the occupants of a white Toyota Hilux after a minor collision along Anker Street in Dalpark.

The incident took place at around 16:00. The victim was driving towards Heidelberg Road (R23) when the bakkie overtook his vehicle and then stopped.

The driver of the Hilux then reversed into the victim’s car. Two men, one of whom was armed with a gun, climbed out of the bakkie and approached the victim. One of the men got into the victim’s car and instructed him to drive into the veld.

The bakkie followed. The robber then instructed the victim to stop and he was warned not to do anything stupid. The victim was robbed of his wallet, containing his driver’s licence, ID, bank cards and cash, and jewellery.

He was ordered to remain in the veld until the robbers had left. They removed his car keys from the ignition and threw them behind the vehicle.
