WATCH: Demonstrators challenge Vulcania company over alleged employment of undocumented migrants
A small group gathered outside the business, where they voiced concerns and attempted to restrict access to the entrance.
A small group of demonstrators, following the March and March campaign of holding protests every Thursday, gathered in front of PCS Foundry in Vulcania this morning (July 16) to express their dissatisfaction with the company, which they believe employs undocumented migrants.
A company representative addressed the group, telling them their actions were illegal, and handed out copies of a SAPS press release issued on July 14.
The press release, titled “SAPS appoints multidisciplinary team to investigate murder of March and March Gauteng leader,” warns individuals not to intimidate, harass or perpetrate violence against foreign nationals, calling such actions unlawful.
The demonstrators rejected the copies of the press release as official documents, saying they lacked a stamp and signature to certify their authenticity.
They attempted to close the gate to the premises to prevent employees from entering and remained at the entrance to make their presence known.
At the time of publication, the demonstration remained peaceful while the company awaited police presence to resolve the matter.
