Constant noise is tiresome

Louis le Roux, from Victoria Avenue, writes: In the Brakpan Herald of January 31, the SAPS indicated that they have received an increasing number of complaints regarding disturbance of the peace (SAPS snippets).

It is clear that people are not just complaining, but that the number of incidents of disturbance of the peace is on the increase.

One of the factors that contributes to this unbearable situation is the number of hellholes (shebeens and so called “sports bars”) that have sprung up like mushrooms in our town.

The rogues who run these places, as well as the patrons, do not give a hoot about the comfort of decent people who live in the surrounding areas.

As a matter of fact, the more noise they make, the happier they seem to be.

There is one particular “sports bar” in town that is particularly noisy on seven days a week.

The noise levels increase as the night progresses and, by midnight, it is such a rowdy affair that none of the residents in the area can get any sleep.

The “sports bar” is also renowned for drugs, and prostitution is rife.

Residents in the complex where I reside are at breaking point and the majority agree that illegal immigrants are at the core of the problem.

Although I am an Afrikaans-speaking citizen, I am writing this letter in English, in the hope that the guilty parties will take note of our complaints.

I am, however, not sure that they can read!
