Sunday brings water outages

I am sure they are busy with water shedding.

Wiets and Liza Botes write by email:

I wish to bring to your attention the water outage that we have been experiencing in Brenthurst, every Sunday now, for the last two months.

When you query, they say that there is a burst pipe.

This can’t continue like this.

We are now not able to bath or shower in order to go to church.

One can’t tell me that every Sunday they experience a burst pipe until about 5pm and then the pipe is repaired.

I am sure they are busy with water shedding and I don’t have a problem with it, but keep us informed, and not every Sunday.

Editor’s note: Comment was requested from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) and the following response was received from spokesperson Themba Gadebe: “Please note that EMM is not implementing any water shedding.

“According to our records, we know about water outages on two Sundays only.

“We are currently doing some work on the pump station and, in time, the problem should be resolved.

“We are busy replacing the pumps with new ones.

“The EMM apologises for the inconvenience.”
