Look to the sewer for hyacinth solution

With reference to ‘Hyacinth crisis continues’ in last week’s Herald:

One way to help relieve the problem of sewage in the dam is to prohibit homeowners from allowing their rain and storm water to run into the sewerage system, which, especially in the rainy season, adds millions of litres to the overloaded water treatment system.

This will need urgent inspections to determine which owners allow this unhealthy situation, as well as overflowing drain systems discharging into streets, which in turn pollute rivers and so on.

This is a cheap and easy way to help fight the hyacinth problem and can be implemented very quickly.
