Things looking up for DFC

Brakpan’s Dalpark Football Club (DFC) continued their recent good form with a 3-3 draw in the Benoni South Local Football Association’s (BSLFA) Division One match, on the William Hills Secondary School grounds, in Actonville, on Sunday, January 26.

The team took on Chelsea in a game that coach Brian Fray described as “just a brilliant performance from the boys”.

“I must give credit to my team for their performance,” he said.

“It was the best game that we have played this season and the boys were really up to the task at home.”

DFC were down by two goals to one at the end of the first half, but responded soon after the second half commenced, to score the equaliser and bring the score line to 2-2.

“As has been the norm in the last couple of weeks, one of our players received a red card and we were again forced to play with 10 players for the last 15 minutes of the game,” Fray said.

“In that period Chelsea scored their third goal from the penalty spot.

“The boys kept their heads up, however, and pressurised the opposition enough to score our third goal with three minutes left on the clock.”

The coach added that he was extremely proud of his players and encouraged them to keep up the good work and spirit.

The goal-scorers for DFC were Isack Tshabalala (two) and Calvin Nyathi.
