Getting down and dirty with Quads 4 Quads

In its 11th year, the Quads 4 Quads (Q4Q) adventure ride is promising to be bigger and better than ever.

Q4Q consists of four days of off-road riding all the way from Johannesburg to Durban, at approximately 250km a day, followed by a return leg from Durban to Johannesburg.

The Quads 4 Quads event was started 10 years ago, by a small, off-road adventure business called Family Adventures, run by Glenn Foley and Corinne Andrews, who chose the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) as the beneficiary of the ride, which has become the main fund-raiser for QASA.

Ari Seirlis, the CEO of QASA, a quadriplegic himself, will be participating in the event for the 10th time.

Phil Case, a quadriplegic and financial director of Dial-A-Nerd, is riding his new bike this year, a beautiful, powerful lady called “Mavis”, in his sixth Q4Q race.

Over the last decade, QASA has benefited immensely from the funds raised by Quads 4 Quads, particularly their computer digital village training centre for people with disabilities, which is funded entirely by the proceeds of the event.

Around 600 off-road motorcyclists, able and disabled, join the trip to see some amazing parts of South Africa on this 1 000km off-road journey, in order to make a difference in the lives of quadriplegics and paraplegics.

Q4Q kicks off from Carnival City on Thursday, October 2, and will arrive at Cane Cutters in Ballito on Sunday, October 5.

The return leg departs from Cane Cutters on Thursday, October 9, and will arrive at Carnival City on Sunday, October 12.
