Royal Oak rewards junior golf talent
Royal Oak Country Club’s 2015 Junior Club Championships took place on Thursday, last week, and the young golfers were in for a challenging day.
The club professional and golf director Kenneth Dube told the Herald how proud he was of his young golfers and how they have grown immensely over the past year.
One of the young golfers who has grown tremendously is Mzwakhe Nkomo,who won the title of Best Junior Golfer at this year’s prize-giving, which also took place on Thursday, last week.
Nkomo has been playing for four years now and was the club’s Most Improved Junior Player at last year’s prize-giving.
The Most Improved Junior Player for 2015 is Maartin Zimmerman and Christy Raper walked away as the overall winner of the Junior Club Championship.
The results from the Royal Oak Junior Club Championship on December 10 are:
A-Division: 1 C Raper 77, 2 T Smith 81, 3 M Nkomo 84.
B-Division: 1 M Mahlangu 93, 2 D Kotze 96, 3 D Sevenster 96.
C-Division: 1 S Nel 46, 2 J Jacobs 42, 3 C Ferguson 21.
