Commonwealth nations battle on the mat
The South African Wrestling Federation (SAWF) hosted a successful Commonwealth Wrestling Championship at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena from December 14 to 19.
Some of the world’s top wrestlers battled it out on the mat including Brakpan Wrestling Club’s Michael Gaitskill and Martin Erasmus.
Gaitskill (seen left, against India’s Parvan Khumar) finished third in the men’s freestyle 86kg weight class while Erasmus, a favourite for gold, finished third in the 97kg weight class.
