Teams turn out for awareness tournament

The tournament featured teams from u-10 all the way to the open division.

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is observed annually from November 25 to December 10.

To coincide with this and with the aim of raising awareness about how sport can reduce violence and crime, the Brakpan SAPS Youth Prevention Crime Desk hosted a Sports Against Crime Tournament at the Charl Baard Stadium on Saturday.

Leachville Shooters beat Rise Up in the u-10 netball finals.

The tournament featured teams from u-10 all the way to the open division.

With teams from all over town taking part, the Youth Prevention Crime Desk thanked them for getting involved in the effort to raise awareness about violence.

The netball results in various age groups are:

• U-10: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Rise Up

• U-13: 1 Victorious, 2 Leachville Shooters

• U-16: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Kgotso Stars

• Open: 1 Victorious, 2 Rise Up

The soccer results for the various age groups are:

• U-10: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Kgotso Stars

• U-13: 1 Mighty Birds, 2 Brakpan Spurs

• U-16: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Brakpan Spurs

• Open: 1 Dolphins, 2 Brakpan Spurs

Organisers of the tournament thanked the various sports teams for participating.
