Shein kicks Zara off top spot on Top Brands of 2022 list

Shein's popularity has rocketed over the last 12 months.


Newly released ‘internet searching’ data has revealed Shein is the world’s most popular fashion brand, and is a site that is utilised by primarily woman in at least 113 countries.  

According to the data from research compiled by money.co.uk, Shein is followed by Zara and Zalando. Shein kicked off Zara from the top spot, compared to the same data from last year.

Shein’s meteoric rise in popularity has rocketed over the last 12 months.

Money.co.uk analysed 12 months of Google search data to find out which fashion brand is the most searched for in each country in the world. Shein tops that list.

Founded in 2008 in Nanjing, China, the company lists between 500 to 2 000 new products every day, giving consumers something to check for regularly. This has contributed to its consistent search results.  

Zara falls down to second place

The Spanish clothing company Zara featured as the second most searched-for brand in the world. It falls one position from its 2021 ranking but still achieves the top spot in 26 countries, such as Greece, Uruguay and Japan.

Zalando in third place

Finishing up in third place is the German online fashion and lifestyle retailer Zalando, which is a non-mover since last year but adds a further four countries to its tally, topping searches in the likes of Switzerland, Italy as well as its native Germany.

Other newcomers

It’s not just Shein that appears on the leaderboard for the first time. Hugo Boss, Michael Kors and Puma make up the other new entries on the list, with each brand landing at the top spot in one country.
