Carletonville police are investigating kidnapping, extortion, and theft of a motor vehicle after an incident in Khutsong Ext 5 on October 29.

It’s been reported that the daughter of the kidnapped 64-year-old woman discovered her mother and 31-year-old brother were missing when she arrived home at 20:00.

The family’s Nissan NP 300 bakkie was also gone.

An unknown Sotho-speaking man contacted the family demanding money for the release of the victims.

R30 000 was offered for the release of the victims, but the kidnappers claimed that it wasn’t enough. The family contacted the police and the mother and brother were later released.

No one has been arrested yet.
