A senseless murder took place in the Oberholzer CBD over the past weekend.

As far as could be determined, the victim (38) and suspect (42) were relaxing together in town on May 3.

An argument erupted between the two men, who were apparently long-term friends, after it became known that the victim had allegedly started a relationship with the suspect’s girlfriend.

The suspect pulled out his firearm and shot the victim six times. He died at the scene.

The suspect immediately drove to the Carletonville police station, where he handed over his firearm and gave himself over to the police.

A case of murder has now been opened.
