Merafong to host State of the City Address on August 21

The Mayor Nozuko Best will deliver updates on service delivery, infrastructure projects, and the municipality’s Vision 2035 strategy.

The Merafong City Local Municipality will host its State of the City Address next week, with the event scheduled for Thursday, August 21, at the Carletonville Civic Centre.

According to the municipality’s new spokesperson, Thabo Moloja, the occasion will serve as a platform to reflect on Merafong’s progress, share key milestones, and outline how the municipality aims to achieve Vision 2035—a strategy to position the city as sustainable, inclusive, and economically vibrant.

Executive Mayor Nozuko Best will deliver the keynote address, providing updates on service delivery, infrastructure development, and community-focused initiatives currently underway.

“The event will bring together stakeholders from government, business, civil society, and the media to discuss Merafong’s future,” Moloja said. “Guests can expect insights into the city’s long-term development priorities, a Q&A session with the media, and networking opportunities.”

The address was originally set for July 11 but was postponed just two days before the date without explanation.
