Oberholzer woman (20) raped after night out

A 20-year-old woman from Oberholzer was raped in the early hours of February 15 after she and her boyfriend were confronted by an unknown man while walking home from Corner Pocket.

What should have been a fun night out turned into a nightmare for a young woman from Oberholzer over the past weekend.

The woman (20) and her boyfriend were on their way back home from Corner Pocket on the morning of February 15.

Their paths crossed with an unknown man at about 00:40. The stranger came up to the couple and stopped them.

The man removed the boyfriend’s cap and then told him that he was not the one he was looking for.

He suddenly took out a bottle and hit the boyfriend over his head. The girlfriend ran down Juliana Street to try to get away from the attacker.

He, however, caught up with her and pulled out a knife. The attacker told her to keep still. He then forced her to lie down, covered her face with a balaclava, and raped her.

He then ran away.

The girl was taken to Carletonville Hospital and reported the case to the police.
