House robbers shoot Carletonville man in leg

They ran away after the crime.

Carletonville Detectives are investigating a house robbery case and attempted murder following an incident in town this weekend. The crime took place in Pyrite Street on April 4.

A resident (31) was in his home when he was woken up by a loud noise at approximately 23:00.

Suddenly, three unknown men stormed into his house. One had a firearm while the others wielded metal pipes.

The robbers spoke isiXhosa and demanded money, but the resident told them that he did not have money. One of the robbers put his metal pipe on the bed, after which the resident took the opportunity to grab the metal pipe and hit the robber with it.

The robber with the firearm then shot him in the leg. The thugs grabbed two cellphones and ran from the house.
