Sewage leaks continue in Kokosi at Fochville
Residents have to live in the unhealthy conditions.
Residents of some areas of Kokosi are continually plagued by sewage leaking from overflowing manholes in the area.
By this week, it was almost impossible to drive into Kokosi Ext 99 at the back of the old Kokosi graveyard with a normal vehicle.
The reason for this is a huge sewage leak at the back of the graveyard.
The ongoing leak has washed out a deep trench in the gravel road.
A community activist, Lerato Gumede, showed the Herald how sewage was streaming from an overflowing manhole next to the yard of Nswaki Tswagimu and her family.
According to Tswagimu, the ongoing leak has made the lives of her and her family almost unbearable.
The stench of the sewage is extremely unpleasant, and they must step over the sewage if they want to get into or out of their yard.
Meanwhile, sewage was also leaking again from overflowing manholes in the veld close to house no. 1528 in Kokosi Ext 1. Sewage leaks have been occurring in this area on and off for the past three years, with sewage often leaking past the ZCC Church just around the corner.
